Configuring Outlook 2002 for LDAP

- If you have Outlook 2002 or newer, you can take advantage
of its ability to connect
to Bethel's LDAP server that has the entire list of Bethel
e-mail addresses.
- By typing in the name
of person into the first and or last name field you would
like
to e-mail, Outlook brings up a list of matches instead of the
entire list like contacts or global address functions.
- To add Bethel's LDAP directory to Outlook 2002:
- Open the Outlook Mail configuration by right-clicking
on the Microsoft Outlook on the desktop and selecting
Properties. If this icon is not
available, you can also
go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Mail to open
this window.
- Click E-mail Accounts
- Select Add a new directory or
address book and then click the
Next button.
- Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP)
and then click the Next button.
- Enter ldap.bethel.edu
as the server name, and then click the More
Settings button.
- Enter Bethel LDAP as the Display
Name.
- Click on the Search
tab and then enter dc=bethel,dc=edu
as the search base.
- Click the OK button,
then the Next button,
and finally click the Finish
button to close the wizard.
- To access Bethel's LDAP
directory, open the address book and then select
Bethel LDAP
from the pull down menu titled Show names from
the:.
- Click on the Find
Items button and then enter the name of the person
that you are searching for.
