How to Add a Printer in Microsoft Windows XP-Windows 7

printing windows The instructions below will guide you through setting up printers on a personal Microsoft Windows computer. If you need to add a printer on a Bethel owned Microsoft Windows computer or on the Mac OS please see KB article 619.
  1. Click on the Start Menu (the Windows button), select the Search field and type: \\bsp-spooler-h1.its.bethel.edu and hit the return/enter key.
    Note: If using Windows XP click Run to bring up the search field.




  2. In the window that appears, enter your Bethel username (bu\username*) and password. Then click OK.
    * example: bu\abc12345



  3. A Windows Explorer window will pop up with the list of available printers.
    Note: all networked printers should have a label on the front with their printer name.



  4. Double-click on the desired printer(s) to install the printer(s). Each printer installed will open a printer window, which signifies a successful install (this windows may safely be closed). The printer(s) will now be available to print to in your software applications.

    Note: Each time you restart your computer, change your network location, or lose network connectivity you will need to go through steps 1 - 2 in order to print.
