Email Client Configuration

ITS supports the following configurations for email, all other configurations are unsupported. If you wish to use another combination, ITS cannot offer help configuring your email program or assist you with any connectivity issues you may have.

  • Faculty/Staff on Windows - Outlook 2003 using Exchange (Bethel-owned computers only), or Webmail
  • Faculty/Staff on Mac OS X - Entourage using Exchange (Bethel-owned computers only), or Webmail
  • Students/Alumni/Others - only Webmail is supported

Server Settings

If you wish to configure an existing non-supported client yourself, you may use the settings below. ITS cannot assist with any problems with configurations not in the above list. Use of these settings should only be attempted if you understand the different services.

It is required that either TLS or SSL is used for access to all email services. This may be indicated in some email clients as "use secure connection".

  • Exchange Users
    • Incoming email server (IMAP): exchange.its.bethel.edu (must use SSL on port 993)
    • Outgoing email server (SMTP): exchange.its.bethel.edu (must use TLS on port 587 and authentication)
    • POP3 is not available on Exchange
