Blackboard Guest Access

Guest Access in Blackboard allows non-bethel users to be able to access the content pages that have been set for guest access. Note that discussions and other secure areas of blackboard will never be accessible to guests. The steps are to:

1. Allow guest access in the Control Panel/ Settings/Guest Access

2. Allow guest access to each Menu Item in the Control Panel/Manage Course Menu and "Modify" each menu item and check the "Allow Guest Access" selection.

3. Make the "Content Area" available to Guests in the Control Panel/Manage Tools/Tool Availability and check the "Allow Guest" box for at least "Content" and "Announcements" if you wish those areas to be accessible to guests.

4. Add the course to the course catalog. > CONTROL PANEL > SETTINGS > CATEGORIZE COURSE Be sure to select the right grouping and then to click the Add button to add the course to the category.

Guests then access the courses via the following steps.

1. go to http://blackboard.bethel.edu or select Blackboard from the QuickLinks on any Bethel Web Page.

2. Click on the Course Catalog button (NOT the Login button)

3. Click the link - "Log in as guest"

4. Explain where to find your course in the course catalog categories and then guests should be able to access all guest access areas of your course.
