Troubleshooting Classroom Technology

  • Computer Projector will not come on.

    • Unplug the projector using the power cord on the back of the unit, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the projector back in.
    • Push the on button on the bottom of the projector and watch to see if the green light comes on. If it does not, then call the AV department (college - 6227, seminary - 6180, after hours and on weekends contact IC Tech 6500#3)
    • If the projector does come on, then the batteries in the remote may need to be changed.
    • Older remotes have on on/off swictch on the side of the remote.

  • Computer will not connect to the server or the internet.

    • Check that the cable is connected to the wall connection.
    • Restart the computer
    • If all of the above do not solve the problem, call either AV (6227) or the Help Desk (6500)

  • You cannot log onto the computer

    • Check the ethernet connection as above
    • Make sure that the domain is set to your login domain

      • BU for Faculty
      • BU for Staff
      • BU for students

    • Call the HelpDesk if none of these solve the problem (6500)

  • Logging onto a Windows computer takes a long time.

    • Ethernet may not be connected or the network may be down

  • The VCR will not show a video through the ceiling mounted projector.

    • VCR's attached to TV's will not show through the projectors.
    • Turn the VCR on, put the tape in and select the play button. Then use the remote for the projector and select the input button to select input 2 or 3. Depressing the input button sequentially rotates the projector through the input selections. On some remotes there are separate  buttons for the various inputs
    • Call AV (6227) if you still get no picture.
