Access to your files from a non-Bethel computer

http://kb.its.bethel.edu/articles/264/

This article is currently unmaintained, and may not be accurate.

If you are using a Bethel computer maintained by ITS, these directions may or may not apply. In most cases drives should automatically be mapped for you, and no additional steps are necessary.

From on-campus

To access your home directory on the fileservers from your personal computer on campus you may use the following paths. Fill in the first letter of your username for fl, and your username for username.

From Windows

\\bsp-nas.its.bethel.edu\Home<fl>\<username>\

The easiest way to access the files is to go to the Start menu, choose Run, enter the above path into the box, and choose OK. It should prompt you for your username and password.

From Mac OS X

cifs://bsp-nas.its.bethel.edu/Home<fl>/<username>/

Instructions are available for OS X in KB Article 139.

From off-campus

If you access your files from off-campus, the ITS-supported method is DAV (sometimes referred to as WebDAV). In the past you may have used FTP, but that method is being phased out due to many problems. You may access your home directory using the following URLs. Fill in the first letter of your username for fl, and your username for username.

  • Secure: https://bsp-nas-dav.bethel.edu/Home<fl>/<username>/

If you just need to download files and do not need to upload or modify files, you can simply paste the appropriate URL into your web browser.

Instructions for using DAV are also available for several common operating systems

These paths and information on other areas are also available at http://fileindex.its.bethel.edu/
