Student Account and Quota Policies
Account types
- 1. Unix server:
- All students enrolled at Bethel University receive an account on this server. The is a combined email/webspace quota of 85MB.This account provides for one or more of the following functions:
a. e-mail
b. personal web page
c. shell (unix) server
- 2. LDAP server:
- The main authentication server for campus provides the following functions:
a. email directory
b. web applications
- 3. PC/Mac File Server:
- The File Server Account provides central data storage for all students. Each student has a 55 MB quota.
Students who significantly overshoot the quota may have their directory immediately locked, and will then be notified by the HelpDesk. See the quota page for information what affects your file server account. You may archive your files for personal storage using CD-RW drives available in CC120. CD-R/RW (700MB) disks are available in the Campus Store.
- 4. Blackboard server.
- Students receive an account on these servers when their professors create a Blackboard web site for a course in which a student is officially registered.
- 5. Page Printing Account:
- Each student enrolled at Bethel can print 500 pages per academic year without cost to on campus printers. See the My Account page or the printing FAQ for more information.
Passwords:
Passwords for all of the above systems are identical and are set and managed at the My Account page.
Account Problems:
If you have any problem or a question about your account please contact the Help Desk (651-638-6500). A first step to clearing up account problems is to reset your account password from the My Accounts page. The My Accounts page also provides the following services:
- Sign Up for a New Account
- Change My Password (I know my old password and wish to change it to something else)
- Reset My Password (I have forgotten my password or it doesn't appear to be working)
- Change My Account Preferences
