Using Spybot S&D to detect and remove spyware

Install the Spybot program

If you DO NOT have a network connection, install the spybotsd_includes.exe to update the reference list.

If you do have a network connection, launch the Spybot S&D program to display the main interface. Click on the Search for Updates button to download the latest updates. When Spybot had completed updating the reference list, click on Search & Destroy.

In the Search & Destroy window select Check for problems and when the scan is complete select Fix selected problems. Click on the Immunize button when after the spyware is removed.

In the Immunize windows click on the Immunize button.

You have now completed the process of removing spyware from your computer. It's important that you update the reference list and perform a scan on a regular basis. You will also need to re-immunize your system as the reference list is updated. Finally, you can significantly reduce the amount of spyware on your computer by using a web browser other than Internet Explorer.
